INTERNATIONAL MONTESSORI KINDERGARTEN IN BELGRADE AND NOVI SAD

BELGRADE
Center for Humanistic Education
Our Vision
“Give me a stepping stone, and I will move the Earth”
In the brief but powerful years of early childhood, we have a unique opportunity to give a child the foundation for their lifelong relationship with the world.
Our Core Principles
  • Seeing each child as an active participant in their own life and learning
  • Creating a diverse environment that helps reveal and nurture their unique abilities
  • Upholding a humanistic philosophy and values
This inner point of support helps a child joyfully explore, create, and transform the world — growing into a happy, free, and self-reliant individual.
Our goal is to give every young person a “Stepping stone” in this complex world — and to help them discover it within themselves.
This inner stability becomes the solid ground for harmonious development.
Creating a space for people to blossom
our mission:
Our Values
Gentleness. We honor the quiet rhythm of growth, giving time for every process to unfold and walking beside each child with tender presence
Acceptance and Kindness. We welcome every soul in its uniqueness, giving space for all shades of emotion to bloom — guiding each one with warmth and care
Responsibility. We nurture a world where taking responsibility feels natural and joyful, where it is safe to make mistakes, to mend them, and to learn through them
Dialogue. We cultivate a community where everyone learns to truly listen — building meaningful, respectful communication together
Openness. We give voice to our thoughts and feelings, valuing feedback that helps us all grow
Curiosity and Discovery. With wonder and reverence, we explore the mystery of childhood — walking hand in hand with children as they learn to know the world and themselves
Here, the child grows into their own confidence.
When readiness meets opportunity, learning becomes joyful — and therefore, deeply effective.

Our teachers observe closely, feel each child’s rhythm, and guide them at their own pace.

Every child follows a unique path in the Montessori environment — and along that path, they discover confidence, independence, and a love of learning.

Our mission is to create a safe and thoughtfully prepared environment where every child can live independently and develop according to their individual needs at each stage of growth.

All learning in our classrooms is led by certified Montessori teachers.

Beyond the beautifully prepared environment, one of the key features of the Montessori approach is timely development — not early, not late, but exactly when the child is ready.
The Montessori Method
“Help me do it by myself”
From 18 months to 6 years, children naturally want to “do it myself!”
We see this as a powerful drive toward independence — from the first step to choosing one’s own future.
Language Area
We learn to identify individual sounds and use them to form words and sentences.
Your child will get acquainted with the letters, learn to write, and then move on to developing reading skills.
Mathematics Area
Here, children are introduced to quantities and numbers through beautiful, concrete materials.
Here, children learn to perform basic arithmetic operations.
In mixed-age groups, the younger ones first observe the older children, building inner motivation before they begin exploring the materials themselves.
The World Exploration Area
Young explorers study the wonders of the world: physics, astronomy, plants and animals, continents and climates, art, and much more.
Sensorial Area
This is where children refine their senses — learning to recognize form, size, and scent through direct experience.
Sensorial work prepares the foundation for abstract thinking and the intuitive understanding of mathematical order.
Practical Life Area
Here, children learn to care for themselves and their environment.
They practice everyday tasks and grow more capable and confident with each new skill.
The Montessori classroom is designed to meet a child’s natural needs.
Everything — from furniture to learning materials — is sized for children and placed within their reach, empowering them to explore freely and independently.

Each area of the classroom offers materials that progress from the simplest to the most advanced, guiding the child’s development over a three-year cycle.
Safety • Self-Control • Aesthetic Harmony

Social Development
Social and emotional learning — what we now call soft skills — is an essential part of our work.
Maria Montessori saw the classroom as a community where children learn to live peacefully with others. That’s why each material exists in only one set — teaching patience, respect, and cooperation. But each teacher, year after year, refines the ability to guide children along the challenging path of constructive communication, a path that requires patience and love. This is how emotional intelligence begins to grow.
In the classroom, we talk about personal boundaries—our own and others’—and emphasize the value and self-sufficiency of the word “no,” teaching children to use it without hesitation and shame. Together with the kids, we engage in a thoughtful and engaging search for ways to resolve conflicts using words only, and we also help them learn to interact with their emotions in a healthy way.
Nutrition
We know how important it is for your child to feel at home — especially after moving to a new country.
We offer international education standards,
while giving you the confidence that your child will be nourished just like at home!
For our kindergarten, we developed a menu together with a child nutrition specialist, and we always serve familiar, comforting meals: porridge for breakfast, dairy products similar to those your child is used to, pancakes, boiled beets, borscht, and “lazy” cabbage rolls!
Children aged 3–6 evolve together.

Here, children learn to ask for help, offer it in return, and take responsibility for their actions.
They grow emotionally, gaining both independence and a sense of belonging.
Each bilingual group (Russian-English or Russian-Serbian) includes professional teachers and assistants who ensure individual attention for every child. Each Russian–English group (ages 3–6) includes up to 25 children and 3 teachers (one of whom is English-speaking).
Each Russian–Serbian group includes up to 32 children and 4 teachers (two of whom are Serbian-speaking).
In the toddler groups, there are up to 14 children and 3 teachers (one English-speaking).
In addition, specialists come in to lead extracurricular activities.

Child - School - Family
We believe that education is a shared journey.
That’s why we organize not only activities for children but also events for the whole family:
  • Parent–teacher meetings and workshops
  • Weekend family activities
  • Holiday performances and graduation ceremonies
  • Mother’s and Father’s Days
  • Excursions, picnics, and community celebrations
The first sessions are individual.
It allows your child meet teachers and explore the space in a calm, friendly setting.
We may invite you to join a walk — every adaptation plan is personalized.
After the initial introduction and first lessons, we will work together to find the most comfortable way to help your child adapt to a full day.
Some children are ready to stay half-days in the very first week, while others need a bit more time. What matters most is a gentle, confident transition into the group.
